Trust Layer

Verified partners, protected ecosystem

Trust is the invisible currency of global trade. Before any document can flow, before any value can move, we need certainty about who we're dealing with.

#OPENmaat's KYC function delivers end-to-end identity intelligence to safeguard our ecosystem. It spans from initial background checks and corporate verification during onboarding, to continuous risk monitoring across the entire partner lifecycle.

By integrating advanced compliance standards — AML, sanctions screening, PEP lists and beneficial-ownership discovery — we ensure that every counterparty is fully verified, and that every business interaction remains transparent, lawful and secure.

  • Onboarding intelligence — background checks & corporate verification.
  • Continuous monitoring — real-time risk scoring across the partner lifecycle.
  • Compliance-native — AML, sanctions, PEP and beneficial-ownership screening.
  • Regulator-ready — audit trails aligned with international standards.

The power of AI, empowering Trade Partners

  1. 1
    Stage 1

    Natural Language Data Input

The user interacts exclusively with the left panel, entering a free descriptive text about the trade transaction they wish to execute. No mandatory fields, no required order, no technical terminology.

  2. 2
    Stage 2

    Gap Analysis and Classification

The AI engine processes the input in real time and classifies the information in the right panel under two strict categories.

  3. 3
    Stage 3

    Guided Resolution of Uncertainties

For each detected uncertainty, the system displays specific interactive fields (dropdowns, date pickers, validated text inputs) in the right panel. The user completes or selects the answers directly in those components to progress toward the full-certainty state.

  4. 4
    Stage 4

    Generation of Tentative Proposals

Once all mandatory data is collected, the panel switches to offer a draft preview.

  5. 5
    Stage 5

    Confirmation and Persistence

The interface enables the interactive Confirm operation button. After the review and eventual edit by the user, pressing this button triggers the insertion and persistence of the validated data into the OpenMaat database, enabling the subsequent documentary management of the shipment.

Proposed Structured Record and Document Workflow

Once the final uncertainty is resolved, the right panel transforms completely. It shifts from a data collection form to display two vertical blocks: the consolidated Structured Record and the AI-inferred Document Workflow. The left panel (prompter) remains unchanged and available should the trader wish to further refine the operation using natural language.

AI Document Matrix

The workflow that thinks with you

The document matrix in this block is neither a generic list nor a static template; it is inferred by AI in real time based on the transaction context and each user's specific role.

Every trade transaction sits at the intersection of product category, shipping route, applicable Incoterm and each participant's role. The combinations are exponential — and each one triggers a different set of documentary obligations. Traditionally, only seasoned trade specialists could navigate this matrix reliably; today, the AI does it in seconds.

A human operator would take minutes to recall that on a Brazil-to-China route the agent needs to upload a specific Certificate of Origin first. The AI deduces this in seconds. The workflow, at machine speed

It then triggers an automated workflow that requests exactly the documentary content each party needs to submit before the eBL can be filled out, while providing a dedicated badge that justifies why each document is required.

  • Real-time inference — no fixed templates; matrix built per operation.
  • Role-based document lists — each party sees only what applies to them.
  • Automated workflow triggers — the eBL unlocks only when prerequisites are met.
  • Justification badges — every requirement carries a clear "why".

Digital title · lifecycle

From paper to a unique, transferable digital title

The traditional paper document is transformed into a Verifiable Digital Title through a deterministic, five-step lifecycle: Create · Sign · Wrap · Mint · Send. Each step is executed automatically and cryptographically verifiable end-to-end.

During the Wrap stage, OPENmaat based on TradeTrust generates a Merkle proof that binds every data field of the document to a single tamper-evident hash. The Mint stage then registers the document on-chain as a transferable record, producing a unique token whose ownership is governed by two roles — the Beneficiary and the Holder.

Both roles are managed under ROX Custody MPC architecture, meaning that private keys are never exposed and every transfer or burn operation is signed by threshold cryptography. Only the connected owner can execute a change of custody, ensuring true singularity and control as required by MLETR.

  • Merkle-proof integrity — any modification invalidates the record.
  • On-chain title transfer — endorsements executed as verifiable transactions.
  • MPC custody — no single point of failure, no exposed private keys.
  • Portable delivery — export as JSON or PDF for legal, banking and customs use.

Standardization layer

Aligning trade data with DCSA standards

The Digital Container Shipping Association (DCSA) defines the global data standards used by the world's largest container carriers. It unifies the way booking, transport, tracking and electronic bills of lading are represented and exchanged across the maritime supply chain.

OPENmaat is being aligned with the DCSA information model so that every operation — from the initial booking to the final delivery — can be expressed with the same schema used by carriers, ports, banks and customs authorities. This transforms OPENmaat into a plug-in interoperability layer, rather than an isolated platform.

The result is a frictionless integration path: carriers can consume OPENmaat's eBL data without custom adapters, banks can validate documents against a common standard, and customs can rely on a predictable, machine-readable format.

  • Standardized eBL — DCSA-compliant electronic bill of lading structure.
  • Booking & Track — unified schema for shipment lifecycle events.
  • Universal API — a single connector for the entire trade ecosystem.
  • Carrier interoperability — direct compatibility with global shipping lines.

The Wrapp Model based on DLPC

An electronic Bill of Lading, when minted as a unique NFT, satisfies MLETR's requirement of singularity and control — but it also limits its financial utility, because a single indivisible token cannot be split, pooled or discounted across multiple investors.

The Wrapp Model solves this by encapsulating the underlying NFT title into a smart contract that issues fungible tokens (FT) representing fractional economic rights over the same asset. The title remains unique on-chain, while the value it represents becomes portable, divisible and financeable.

This is the foundation of DLPC — Digital Ledger Payable Commitment — a financing model that turns each verified trade document into a source of on-chain liquidity: invoice discounting, factoring, supply-chain finance and secondary markets, all built on top of the same MLETR-compliant title.

  • NFT preserves title — MLETR singularity remains intact.
  • Fungible layer for finance — economic rights become divisible and tradable.
  • DLPC-ready — a native path to on-chain trade finance.
  • Compatible with existing MLETR framework — no legal re-engineering needed.
